Counsels individuals and provides group educational and vocational guidance services.
Compiles and studies occupational, educational, and economic information to aid individuals in making and carrying out vocational and educational objectives. Refers students to placement service. Engages in research and follow-up activities to evaluate counseling techniques. Counsels students to provide realistic choices in selecting subjects to assist in both graduation and career choices. Maintains portfolios for students. Organizes and maintains enrollment and attendance records for students making contact with parents when needed. Provides career seminars, student enrollment meetings, counseling assemblies or other meetings as needed to ensure students receive needed information. Provides achievement and diagnostic testing for students to ascertain needs of students. Provides reports and maintains records as required.
No supervisory responsibility is required. Other duties may be assigned.
Master's degree in Education, Counseling or other related field; no substitutions.
An additional two years experience in teaching or counseling is required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a State of Oklahoma State Counseling Certificate issued by the State Department of Education. Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care. If performing duties of a Coach or Assistant Coach: Must have CPR and First Aid Training and maintain throughout employment. Must complete and maintain all certifications and trainings that are required by OSSAA (Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association) and Sequoyah High School.Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
