Oversees overall Archives operations. Ensures archival collection is maintained in accordance with professional standards. Edits and publishes Column newsletter quarterly. Assists Curator with exhibits and art shows. Actively seeks acquisition of new archival materials.
Develops coordinated in-depth Archival operations plan. Implements archival support operations in support of the Cherokee Heritage Pottery, TS La Gi Amphitheater, Trail of Tears Drama, Ancient Village, Adams Corner and all events and programs. Develops and cultivates relationships with relevant organizations and businesses in furtherance of the Cherokee National Historical Society, Inc.' mission. Conducts research on current related museum and archive operation issues. Identifies appropriate partners and programs. Develops budget recommendations and administers designated budget. Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decreases turnaround times, streamline work processes and words cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer services. Assists in Cherokee National Historical Society, Inc., meetings, events, programs and receptions. Provides information on area of expertise to Cherokee Heritage Center and outside agents. Other duties may be assigned.
Bachelor's degree from 4-year college or university in History, Museology, Library Science, Archives, or a related field; no substitutions. Master's Degree preferred.
An additional year experience in a related field.
An individual should have knowledge of Database software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.

Must be able to: Research materials, write, prepare and implement archival policies and procedures. Consult with other experts regarding museum archival operations and practices. Prepare strategic plans for operations of Cherokee National Historical Society, Inc., archives. Support Board needs in archiving support. Provides effective communication and interpersonal skills. Provide a cooperative team environment. Be tactful and courteous with the public.
