Monitors, evaluates, and audits a variety of activities and/or departmental units within the casino and regulatory operations for financial and operational controls and regulatory compliance. Assists in the development of control systems and verifies that controls exist and are operating effectively.
Audits a variety of accounting, financial, and operating records and procedures requiring the application of professional accounting and auditing principles. Performs research to locate and summarize laws, legal summaries and opinions, regulations, and policies to determine if program/area being evaluated is in compliance. Drafts questionnaires/audit programs designed to meet the objectives of the assigned audit project. Performs statistical, logical, and financial analysis from which reasonable conclusions may be used to express an opinion and support audit recommendations. Develops and uses computer programs in the evaluation of data. Prepares workpapers, schedules, and reports. Assists audit management in consulting with clients on basic business processes and internal control approaches. Performs special projects as requested that maybe highly sensitive and confidential. Processes complex compliance, operational, and financial reviews. Maintains records and files as required. Performs other duties as assigned.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Bachelor's degree from 4-year college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Casino related field; or six years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
An additional one (1) year experience in a related field. Experience in Accounting or Auditing Gaming activities is preferred.
An individual should have knowledge of Accounting software; Database software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software; Project Management Software; and Word Processing software.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. Must be able to successfully pass a background investigation to obtain and maintain a Cherokee Nation Gaming License throughout employment. Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Managerial Accountant (CMA), or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and/or candidate preferred
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must have knowledge of authoritative and regulatory issues governing auditing and gaming. Must be able to work independently and be able to handle multiple projects and plan completion of projects in a timely manner. Must possess strong analytical, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills.
