The purpose of this position is to provide nursing care according to Cherokee Nation's policies, standing orders, and as ordered by the physician or mid level in the ambulatory care setting on an as needed basis.
Routine duties shall include providing health care services to individuals eligible for services in accordance with the self-governance compact and funding agreement between the Cherokee Nation and United States executed under the authority of the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act. Rooms patients. Takes and records vital signs. Screens patients according to Cherokee Nation policies. Orders lab and x-ray according to Cherokee Nation's policies and standing orders. Administers medications, immunizations, and treatments according to standing orders, and/or provider orders. Operates a variety of medical equipment. Documents observations, referrals and nursing interventions according to CN documentation standards. Assists the provider with diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical procedures and exams. Provides patient education and self management support. Obtains lab specimens as needed. Participates in ongoing quality improvement activities using the Model for Improvement. Participates as part of the care team. Other duties may be assigned.
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
At least two (2) years of clinical nursing experience in the past five (5) years.
An individual should have knowledge of Database software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must be licensed by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Must be certified in CPR & maintain throughout employment.
Must obtain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within one year of employment & maintain throughout employment.
A driver's license may be required to work in some departments. If so, the applicant/employee must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.
