  • Job Summary

    Provides nursing care according to Cherokee Nation's policies, standing orders, and as ordered by the physician or mid level in the ambulatory setting.



    Job Duties

    Routine duties shall include providing health care services to individuals eligible for services in accordance with the self-governance compact and funding agreement between the Cherokee Nation and United States executed under the authority of the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act.  Rooms patients.  Takes and records vital signs.  Screens patients according to Cherokee Nation's policies..  Orders lab and x-rays according to Cherokee Nation's policies and standing orders.  Administers medications, immunizations, and treatments according to standing orders, and/or provider orders.  Operates a variety of medical equipment.  Documents observations, referrals and nursing interventions according to CN documentation standards.  Assists the provider with diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical procedures and exams.  Provides patient education and self management support.  Obtains lab specimens as needed.  Participates in ongoing quality improvement activities using the Model for Improvement.  Participates as part of the care team.





    This job has no supervisory responsibilities.


    Other duties may be assigned.



    High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).





    COMPUTER SKILLS An individual should have knowledge of Database software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.



    Must possess a valid Oklahoma Practical Nurse's License.

    Must be currently certified in CPR & maintain throughout employment.

    Must obtain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within one year of employment and maintain throughout employment.  A driver's license may be required to work in some departments.  If so, the applicant/employee must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.


    Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.
