  • Job Summary

    Researches and obtains accurate title information needed for the design of right-of-way plans and other related real property matters. Reads and interprets right-of-way plans in order to calculate, compute, and prepare legal descriptions for right-of-way documents. Coordinates and conducts field meetings with land owners, utility companies, county, state and/or federal officials for the purpose of informing and reviewing project plans. Acquires right-of-way in accordance with county, state, and federal regulations.

    Job Duties

    Completes thorough title search of records maintained by the county clerk and court clerk to determine land owners, utilities, and other related information affecting the project.  Prepares reports and drawings to be used with design.  Reads and interprets plans, and maps in order to calculate, compute, and prepare legal descriptions for right-of-way and other legal documents.  Schedules and conducts community and field meetings with land owners, utility companies, county, state, and/or federal officials to review and discuss project plans for the acquisition of right-of-way and other related project matters.  Maintains project record system including indexing and filing of all documents pertaining to the designing, engineering, right-of-way, and construction phases of project. Other duties may be assigned. 

     

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    No supervisory responsibilities are required.

    Qualifications

    Right-of-Way Specialist I - $13.67 hourly

    Education

    Associates degree in Real Estate, Economics, Civil Engineering, or Business Administration from a two-year college or technical school; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  May include two years or more of undergraduate college coursework.

    Experience

    An additional two (2) years of experience in a related field is required.

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

    Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.

    Other Qualifications

    Knowledge of realty principles, practices, techniques, and legal aspects of Real Estate.  Ability to use a scientific calculator, land measure compass, area scale, various types of copy machines, and computers.

     

    Right-of-Way Specialist II - $14.66 hourly

    Education

    Associates degree in Real Estate, Economics, Civil Engineering, or Business Administration from a two-year college or technical school; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  May include two years or more of undergraduate college coursework.

    Experience

    An additional four (4) years of experience in a related field is required.

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

    Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.

    Other Qualifications

    Right-of-Way Specialist III - $15.75 hourly

    Education

    Associates degree in Real Estate, Economics, Civil Engineering, or Business Administration from a two-year college or technical school; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  May include two years or more of undergraduate college coursework.

    Experience

    An additional six (6) years of experience in a related field is required.

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

    Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.

    Right-of-Way Specialist IV - $16.19 hourly

    Education

    Associates degree in Real Estate, Economics, Civil Engineering, or Business Administration from a two-year college or technical school; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  May include two years or more of undergraduate college coursework.

    Experience

    An additional eight (8) years of experience in a related field is required.

    Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
